For a townhouse restoration in Manhattan's historic landmark district of the West Village, Sawyer/Berson created two gardens: one facing the street, and the other at the rear of the townhouse. The layout and style were designed to complement the nineteenth century Italianate brownstone architecture, and to meet the client's desire for a tasteful period garden that would be functional for entertainment and relaxation.  Materials, plants and furnishings were all selected to create a beautiful garden setting with luxuriant green and provide for a comfortable outdoor living space.
