ACE MENTOR PROGRAM 2012 FINAL PRESENTATIONS

Event Date:
Mon, 06/04/2012 - 4:00pm - 7:45pm

The ACE Mentor Program, a not-for-profit organization, helps prepare high school students for careers in design and construction. The fastest-growing mentoring program in the building industry, ACE operates in over 40 states and 200 cities across the nation. In previous years, teams worked on design projects as diverse as a recreational sports complex, a library extension, a theater ticket outlet and an emergency evacuation center. One project -- a sustainably designed arts center -- won honorable mention in the citywide Emerging Green Builders NYC design competition.

At the end of the year, special events are held for students and families, as well as mentors, sponsors and the faculty of several area universities. During these events, teams presented their projects using AutoCAD drawings, floor plans, sketches and construction schedules. To conclude the year's program, scholarships are given out to outstanding seniors who intend to pursue careers in the design and construction industry.
