Reconstruction Strategies for Brownstone Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY
dLandstudio llc
The project examines a site in Brooklyn New York where the work of Robert Moses severed a formerly vibrant low rise neighborhood with a highway trench. Strategies to reconnect the neighborhood & adjacent landscape infrastructure, ameliorate environmental impacts and improve economic vitality are explored through analysis that considers economics, shelter, movement, aesthetics, security, pedestrian safety, recreation, community culture, and ecology. A prescribed yet flexible system for examining urban regeneration projects is demonstrated through the project. The target market for the project is public agencies, elected officials and developers interested in adding density and value to real property. Current project audience includes local community groups, community boards, elected officials, students, as well as city and state agency officials from DOT and Parks.
